Llano del Hato National Astronomical Observatory

The observatory was founded in 1970 in the Andes. It is located in the north-east is 50 miles from the city of Merida at an altitude of 3660 m above sea level. Astronomical Observatory is central to Venezuela, and is considered the highest mountain in the world. 

In the observatory was opened many asteroids and other celestial bodies. The fourth largest Schmidt telescope is there. Venezuelan Observatory consists of four buildings of the circular. Each of them has its own telescope. Domes are also museums.
